Standard Response Protocol (SRP)
The Five SRP Actions are:

Hold: "In Your Room or Area. Clear the halls" This protocol is used when hallways need to be kept clear of occupants for situations such as a medical emergency or maintenance issue. Students remain in their rooms and continue business as usual until “All Clear” is announced. |

Secure: "Get Inside. Lock Outside Doors" This protocol is used to safeguard people within the building. Students remain inside the building and continue business as usual. |

|
Lockdown: "Locks, Lights, Out of Sight" This protocol is used to secure individual rooms and keep occupants quiet and in place. Students move away from sight lines, windows and doors. Maintain silence and do not open the door. |

|
Evacuate This direction may be followed by a location, and is used to move people from one location to a different location in or out of the building. |

|
Shelter: followed by the Hazard and Safety Strategy The safety strategy is used for group and self protection. This may include situations such as a Tornado or Hazmat issue. Directions will be announced if possible and appropriate safety stragties should be used. |
This year, Goodrich Area Schools will fully implement the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) developed by the “I Love U Guys” Foundation. This protocol is designed to provide a clear and consistent framework for crisis response in schools. It is based on the response to any given situation not on individual scenarios. SRP uses a specific vocabulary that also allows for great flexibility. The premise is simple - any of these five specific actions can be performed during an incident, depending on how the situation unfolds.
Communications with Families
When Will We Communicate?
We are committed to keeping families informed whenever student safety or the learning environment is impacted. We will notify families once all students and staff are safe and we have verified information to share.
Immediate Threats: You will be notified as soon as possible via text and email if safety is at risk.
Minor Incidents: A brief "Hold" for a hallway spill or minor medical issue may not prompt a communication unless it significantly disrupts the day.
Important Reminders for Parents
Rely on Official Sources: During an event, you may hear rumors or see social media posts. Please wait for official updates from the district or law enforcement to ensure you have accurate facts.
Avoid Campus: In a "Secure" or "Lockdown" situation, we cannot allow anyone to enter or leave the building. Coming to the school may interfere with emergency responder access.
Keep Information Current: Ensure your contact information is updated in Synergy/ParentVue and enable text alerts in the ParentSquare mobile app.
What You Can Expect from Us
Timeliness: We aim to share information promptly, balancing accuracy with urgency.
Transparency: We'll provide as much detail as possible, within legal and safety boundaries. Please note that we cannot give out specific student information.
Support: Resources and assistance will be offered when appropriate.

Email: For detailed updates.
Text Alerts: For urgent messages.
Automated Phone Calls: For key updates at the school or district level.
Website & Social Media: For ongoing information and resources.

The following sign will be posted in all classrooms and spaces within our district buildings as a quick reference should the following actions be set in motion. Instructions will be given to staff and students via our paging, phone or email systems, if possible and available.
